Kavaleer Productions are currently in pre-production with Welsh animation studio, Dinamo Productions on a new 52 x 11 minute pre-school series entitled ‘Abadas’ for CBeebies, RTÉjr and S4C. Kavaleer will commence production on the series this summer and continue working on the multi-media series for 40 weeks.
‘Abadas’ is a multi-layered interactive word and sound association series that has been created to appeal to pre-school viewers. Set in the magical world of a pop-up book, Pop-Up Island will aim to challenge young viewers to search for new words while following the adventures of Hari the Hippo, Seren the Bat and Ela the Fox. The series is a mixture of animation and live action and will be the first project on which CBeebies, RTÉjr and S4C will collaborate.
The series is produced by Siwan Jobbins for Dinamo Productions and Gary Timpson (Garth & Bev) for the Dublin Digital Hub based Kavaleer Productions. The director is Owen Stickler (animator, Cnex). Budget information for the series is TBC but the show (previously entitled’ The Wordles’) has received €150,000 from the Irish Film Board and €53,771 from the MEDIA funding programme.
‘Abadas’ is expected to start broadcasting next year.
