Mind the Gap Films are currently in pre-production on 2 x 50 minute documentary series, ‘The Last Irish Beauty Queens’ for TV3. The two-part series, directed and produced by Bill Hughes (Celebrity Jigs and Reels), will look at the culture of beauty pageants held in various small Irish towns around Ireland.
Set to start shooting at the end of this month, ‘The Last Irish Beauty Queens’ will travel the country to find local pageants and festivals around the world where a ‘queen’ of the event is crowned. The show will shoot in various locations until the end of August and will feature interviews with festival and pageant organisers, as well as the would-be ‘queens’ and archive footage of previous winners.
The series is expected to broadcast on TV3 in the Autumn. Budget information is currently unavailable but the show received funding of €125,000 in the latest BAI Sound and Vision funding round.
