Northern Ireland Screen and the Belfast Film Festival are to host a free panel event entitled Northern Exposure – Deal Closure on Thursday, April 7th. Limited space is still available for the event where participating panellists will include producers Hilary Davis (Things to do Before You’re Thirty), Julia Short (A Way of Life) and Head of Legal and Business Affairs at Optimum Releasing, Stephen Murphy.
With a continued growth of the screen industry in Northern Ireland and increasing numbers of aspiring film-makers, writers and producers needing to know about the “business of film”, the Belfast Film Festival and Northern Ireland Screen have partnered to host the industry seminar which will concentrate on closing film deals. The event will look to bring in key sales agents, distributors and producers to Belfast to participate in panel sessions and one-to-one meetings.
Confirmed panellists include Hilary Davis (Bankside Films), Julia Short (Verve Pictures), Stephen Murphy (Optimum Releasing), Andrew Orr (Independent Film), John Fletcher (Pathé Distribution), Robin Gutch (Producer, Warp Films), with moderator Mike Goodridge (Editor, Screen International).
Two separate panel discussions will be hosted on the day, running from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 2pm – 5pm respectively. The topics covered will include What the market is looking for in terms of sellable and marketable scripts; Which independent films are getting financed and why; When and how to approach sales agents and/or distributors and future trends.
