Filmbase, in association with FÁS Screen Training Ireland, has announced that two of America's most acclaimed independent producers, Ted Hope (21 Grams, In The Bedroom, Happiness) and Christine Vachon (Far From Heaven, Boys Don't Cry, One Hour Photo) are confirmed to host a daylong masterclass on Wednesday, April 6th.
Hope and Vachon will give a masterclass in Independent film development, financing, production and distribution, with an emphasis on getting first feature film produced. Throughout the session the pair will cover the topics of challenges and opportunities for independent producers in the film industry; independent film finance; developing projects for the budget; costs of marketing and distribution and strategies for engaging with US festivals, agents and distributors. The masterclass will be followed by an audience Q&A.
Primetime Emmy nominee, Ted Hope is the co-founder of Double Hope Films and has produced over sixty films including ‘The Ice Storm’; ‘In the Bedroom’; ’21 Grams’ and ‘American Splendour’. Fellow Primetime Emmy nominee and Killer Films’ co-founder, Christine Vachon has produced dozen of independent films including ‘Far From Heaven’; ‘Kids’; ‘I’m Not There’ and exec-produced Todd Hayes’ five episode HBO series, ‘Mildred Pierce’.
The masterclass will run on Wednesday, April 6th and participation for the day is €40. To book a spot at the masterclass, individuals are asked to make use of the FAS Screen Training Ireland website www.screentrainingireland.ie. Booking must be made by 2pm on Monday, April 4th.
