Three Irish feature films showing at JDIFF, upcoming dramas ‘George Gently’ ‘The Take’ and ‘Rásaí Na Gaillimhe’ as well as news series ‘Dragon’s Den’ are all among some of the high profile projects which have been completed or near completion at Screen Scene’s post production facility.
It has been a busy start for the year for post house Screenscene. On the commercials front the team have had a hand in a number of spots including work for Hibernian Aviva – Migration, Charleville Cheese, Fáilte Ireland, Bord Gais, 3Ireland and The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival Spot.
The Observe Outside Broadcast team have been out on the road covering The ‘Six Nations Rugby’, ‘Eircom International Soccer Awards’, ‘The World Rally Championships’, ‘The Panel’, ‘The All Ireland Talent Show’ and the ‘6TH Irish Film and Television Awards’.
Screen Scene also have been across a number of the projects that picked up awards at the IFTAs on Saturday including ‘Waveriders’ which won the George Morrison Feature Documentary Award, which was presented on the night by the legendary documentary maker himself. Other winners that had been through the post house included the Best Single Drama/ Drama Serial ‘Whistleblower’ (Saffron Pictures), Mint Productions series ‘Bertie’ which chronicled the life of the former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern picked up the Best Documentary Series Award and Juanita Wilson’s ‘The Door’ which came out on top in the Best Short Film Category.
The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival will feature three exciting films that completed post production at Screen Scene. ‘The Daisy Chain’ (Subotica Entertainment), directed by Aisling Walsh, stars Samantha Morton as a grieving mother who moves to Ireland and fosters an autistic child only to find a growing antagonism towards the girl from the locals. Margaret Corkery’s ‘Eamon’ (Zanita Films) which was completed under the Catalyst Project tells the story of a family trying to escape their true selves and their many problems and ‘Cherrybomb’ (Generator Entertainment) directed by Glen Leyburn and Lisa Barros D’Sa starring Robert Sheehan and Rupert Grint as best friends vying for the attention of the same girl.
RTÉ’s ‘Dragon’s Den’ (Screentime Shinawil) will hit the air on February 19th. The series completed full picture and sound post at Screen Scene where Paul Mullen was the series editor.
‘John O’Conor’s Beethoven Boot Camp’ (Mind The Gap) went on air on Tuesday February 17th. The Documentary completed post at Screen Scene and was produced under the RTÉ Arts Lives scheme. Also produced under the scheme was ‘The Riordan’s: Tea, Taboos and Tractors’ (Wildfire Films) which was watched by 555,000 viewers (38% share), the largest audience for an Arts Lives doc since the series began in back in 2005.
The IFTA nominated Children’s TV Show ‘Quizone’ (Vision Independent Productions) is back on air for the midterm break from February 16th to 20th. The series was edited by Brian O’Neill.
A number of other projects that completed post production at Screen Scene went on air in January including: Three of the RTE’s ‘Project Ha Ha’; ‘Dublin Stories’ (Accomplice Television), ‘The Savage Eye’ (Blinder), ‘Dead Cat Bounce’ (Red Jam), and the second series of the lifestyle show ‘Operation Transformation’ (VIP) the RTÉ Archive series ‘On The Street Where You Live’ and ‘The All Ireland Talent Show’ (Tyrone Productions).
‘I was a Boy In Belsen’ (Praxis Pictures) completed full picture and sound post at Screen Scenen; ‘Charlie Bird’s Arctic Journey’ (Crossing The Line) and ‘Superdocs’ (Doubleband Films) were both graded at Screen Scene.
Projects currently in post at Screen Scene include: The Filmbase funded short ‘Blood Coloured Moon’ (Ri Productions/ Cleverality Productions) directed by Marc-Ivan O’Gorman, ‘The Chronoscope’ short film directed by Andrew Legge, JJ Daly Music Promo directed by Thomas Hefferon and Kay Madsen and the feature film ‘Savage’ (SP Films) directed by Brendan Muldowney.
The third series of the BBC Drama ‘George Gently’ (Company Pictures) directed by Daniel O’Hara and Ciaran Donnelly is also in post as is the BBC Drama ‘The Take’(Company Pictures) directed by David Drury and Robert Quinn’s drama series ‘Rásaí Na Gaillimhe’ (Great Western Films).
