After directing four of the ten episodes in the fourth season of ‘Game Of Thrones’, (‘The Lion And The Rose’, ‘Breaker Of Chains’, ‘The Mountain And The Viper’, ‘The Children’), Alex Graves told Collider earlier this year he would be taking a well-deserved break from Westeros for season five, with plans to return for season six.
As a result, Michael Slovis has been set to take over, and will now follow in the footsteps of fellow ‘Breaking Bad’ director Michelle Maclaren in his work on ‘Game of Thrones’, according to a report on ‘Den of Geek’. Other well-known directors who have helmed the ‘GOT’ series include David Nutter (‘Shameless’) and Alik Sakharov (‘Dexter’), alongside showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff.
The director and cinematographer Slovis confirmed at a Behind The Lens event in May that he will be behind the camera for the first two episodes of season five.
The fifth season of ‘Game of Thrones’ will begin filming in Belfast later this month.
