RTÉ television series, ‘Aisling’s Diary’ has been nominated in Tween/Teens for Best One-Off, Special or TV Movie Category of the international awards at KidScreen, one of the world’s leading children’s television summits. The event will be held in New York in February 2010. ‘Aisling’s Diary’, Ireland’s first cross media teen series is the only Irish program to be nominated.
Produced by CR Entertainment Ltd, ‘Aisling’s Diary’ follows the life of an Irish American teenager as she returns with her family to live in Ireland and attempts to fit in. The series, now in its second season, was created by Nuno Bernardo (Sofia’s Diary UK) who will also be speaking at the KidScreen Summit on the Bypassing TV panel.
The KidScreen Summit is regarded as one of the world’s most important Kids TV event, the 2009 event attracting over 1400 attendees from 40 countries.
Series producer Triona Campbell (The Crooked Mile) responded to the nomination by saying: “’Aisling’s Diary’ showcases some of the best of Ireland’s emerging talent both on screen and, on the sound track and we are very proud of the show. An international nomination like this really justifies the commitment from everyone involved and the faith RTÉ Young People’s put into the series. We are delighted with its continuing success.”
A second series of ‘Aisling’s Diary’ recently finished airing on RTÉ Two. A recap of the first and second series will be featured as part of the RTÉ Christmas schedule and a book based on first series is currently available. The series has sold internationally to ABC (Australia) and SVT (Sweeden). In addition to the TV content, the series is available for mobile and internet with international sales being handled directly by CR Entertainment Ltd.
