Irish Series ‘Aisling’s Diary’ attracted interest from broadcasters and on-line portals in over 16 countries including Italy, Singapore, Chile, Germany, Italy, Canada, Australia and the USA at the recent MIPCOM international TV market in Cannes.
CR Entertainment, the company behind the series, also received recognition for it’s other cross generic platform series – the UK based ‘Sofia’s Diary’ – which was named one of the four most iconic UK teen programmes of the 2000’s by industry magazine C21 kids, a standing shared with the C4 series, ‘Skins’.
Speaking at MIPCOM, producer for CR Entertainment Triona Campbell said, “We are delighted with the reception Aisling’s Diary has received within in the international market place. We are very proud of the series and the Irish talent in the show. We also received tremendous support from RTÉ in terms of packaging the series for this market. There is a real gap in the market for live action young people’s drama and we will be working from now until Christmas to close sales with international partners to bring this story to a global audience.”
CR Entertainment is the Dun Laoghaire based production company behind ‘Aisling’s Diary’ which stars Esther Di Maggio in the lead role with native Dubliner Chris Newman playing the part of Murphy, her love interest. The programme is shown over forty, three-minute episodes, appearing each weekday on RTÉ Two and on-line on www.rte.ie/tv/ttv/aislingsdiary/ with a weekly omnibus shown every Saturday. The series is one of only a few Irish dramas to showcase new Irish bands and music.
