Written and directed by Offaly-native Paddy Slattery, Broken Law will be available to watch on Netflix from January 13th.
The film is a tense thriller that tells the story of two estranged brothers on opposite sides of the law.
Dave Connolly (Tristan Heanue) is a respected member of the Gardai whose loyalties are tested by his ex-convict brother Joe (Graham Earley). Upon his release from prison, Joe soon gets roped into a bank robbery, but encounters his brother during the raid, who is faced with a life-altering choice: Dave must decide whether he values the law or his brother more.
Initially crowd-funded the film premiered at the Dublin International Film Festival, where Slattery won the Aer Lingus Discovery Award, before playing the 2020 Galway Film Fleadh . It was released in Irish Cinemas in July.
Broken Law has been described as a ''taut and tense thriller that examines family loyalty, legacy and how far we will go to protect the ones we love.' And received strong reviews, with the Guardian describing it as ''A headbutt of a thriller.'' Joe.ie calling it ''A deadly directorial debut,'' while Cineuropa said ''Slattery's debut is ''a must see.''
The film stars Tristan Heanue who has appeared in Vikings, Game of Thrones and Fair City to name but a few, Graham Earley, (Cardboard Gangsters), John Connors, (Love /Hate) and Gemma Leah Devereux (The Tudors.)
