ShinAwil’s Larry Bass will be among the attendees at next month’s Cannes market
ShinAwil is one of several Irish production companies attending MIPTV 2018 in Cannes this April. Production companies from around the world will be in attendance bringing slates of their programmes to spring's largest global TV & online distribution market, and leading content development event.
ShinAwil CEO Larry Bass will be making the trip to Cannes to represent the company, for what will be his 42nd time attending the MIPTV market. Bass is meeting with format distributors to look at potential shows for Ireland and UK, as well as appointing distributors to ShinAwiL shows. Meetings with co-producers and distributors have also been arranged to discuss ShinAwil’s Drama slate.
The Irish production company has recently wrapped on the second season of ‘Dancing With The Stars’, which aired its final on Sunday night. The show, which has been a massive ratings success since its debut last January saw 576,000 people tune into this year’s season finale, and taking a 48% share. The show saw an audience peak of 734,000 for the moment that Jake Carter lifted the Glitter ball Trophy with his dance partner Karen.
The show has proven its appeal to viewers of all ages and was the top entertainment show last week on Irish television with all audiences, along with being the most popular entertainment show with younger audiences (15 to 34s), where it scored a 41% share. The series has also been a big hit on the RTÉ Player, with 332,000 streams to date.
Speaking about the success of the second season, Larry Bass, CEO of ShinAwil, said:
