Brendan O'Carroll has been nominated for this year’s Royal Television Society Awards, which will be held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London, on Tuesday March 18.
The ‘Mrs. Brown’s Boys’ creator is nominated in the Comedy Performance category alongside Rebecca Front (Psychobitches) and Ryan Sampson (PLEBS).
‘Peaky Blinders’, starring Cillian Murphy, is also nominated for Best Drama Series.
Chaired by David Liddiment, the RTS Programme Awards honour excellence across all genres of television programming, from soaps to history, children’s fiction to comedy performance and sports, and recognise exceptional actors, presenters, writers and production teams as well as the programmes themselves.
The Dublin comedian recently scooped the Best Comedy award at the National Television Awards (NTA) in London’s O2 Arena beating off competition from the likes of Ricky Gervais’s Channel 4 series ‘Derek’, Miranda Hart’s BBC 2 comedy ‘Miranda’ and US series ‘The Big Bang Theory’.
IFTA and BAFTA award-winning ‘Mrs. Brown’s Boys’ sees Agnes Brown play havoc with the lives of her long-suffering family.
Other nominees include David Attenborough (Best Presenter), Olivia Colman (Best Actress), ‘Broadchurch’ (Best Drama Serial) and ‘Game Of Thrones’ (Best International).
The RTS Awards will be presented by comedian Tim Vine at a ceremony on Tuesday 18 March in London.
