With one iteration already on our screens in Jonathan Rhys Meyers and another to appear in upcoming Belfast-shot 'Dracula Untold', Bram Stoker's bloodsucking Count is set to be re-imagined once more in the debut feature for independent Cork company El Diablo Productions.
'Christmas at Dracula's", set for release in 2014, sees the once-feared vampire resolve to gather the traditional rogue's gallery of movie monsters at his home for a Christmas party, in an effort to re-establish his legend as the prince of darkness. Among the familiar faces set to appear are Frankenstein's monster, The Wolfman, The Wicked Witch, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
An amalgamation of Bram Stoker's original novel and the reiterations that have passed through the silver screen down through the years, 'Christmas at Dracula's' has been dubbed a modern and darkly comic take on the vampire myth, one that sees Dracula's party herald the end of the world and bring the vampire to the very gates of Hell itself.
Shot entirely in Cork city and its surroundings, the film was written and directed by Simon McKeon and stars Conor Slattery (The Package), Jerry O' Mullane (The Last Round) and Conor Dwane (Beau Diable) as Count Dracula. Cristian Paradiso provided cinematography.
Said star Conor Dwane, who also produces: ‘Paying homage to these iconic characters and old fashioned horror movies while adding our own modern influences has been very rewarding. With principal photography almost complete the real fun begins with the editing and visual effects and other post production work.'
