Applications are now open for the Catalyst Production Scheme, which will offer three teams of emerging filmmakers the chance to produce a low-budget feature film to the tune of €350,000.
The scheme, which was launched in 2007, has led to the production of past features such as ‘Rewind’, ‘One Hundred Mornings’ and ‘Eamon’, and is aimed at filmmakers who want to see low-budget productions reach the screen without having to sacrifice high ambitions. Successful candidates will also meet with assigned mentors and support staff from the Irish Film Board in order to guide them through their projects.
In order to qualify, potential applicants must first complete two separate days of seminars –taking place on November 30th and December 14th, respectively – before being given a three month period in order to prepare a production package and screenplay for consideration.
Applicants must be producers, writers, directors – or some combination of the three – with a previous credit on at least one short film, television or feature production, and or commercial or viral/online series. Credits on stage or radio plays for writers will also be accepted. Showreels or other evidence of produced work are mandatory at request.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and priority will be given to Irish citizens and residents, as well as emerging talent with produced credits through existing funded schemes or commissioned projects – successful candidates from former Catalyst schemes need not apply.
To be considered for initial seminars, applicants must complete the first stage of application as outlined at www.screentrainingireland.ie. Successful candidates will be notified by Wednesday November 30th 2013.
