BBC Northern Ireland is currently seeking a new Head of Drama. The broadcaster is seeking an “experienced creative champion and leader for drama development and production in Northern Ireland.
The BBC states the right candidate should be “someone committed to nurturing talent and ideas, and excited by the prospect of representing Northern Ireland on the network.
“We already produce some of the finest award-winning television and radio drama. Hit shows like Messiah starring Ken Stott, Five Minutes of Heaven starring Liam Neeson, and Occupation starring James Nesbitt were all made here in Northern Ireland. You’ll build on these successes; producing drama that has national and international appeal as well as drama that reflects the local culture.”
For interested applicants, the job description is as follows: “Reporting jointly to the Head of Programmes for BBC Northern Ireland and the Controller of Drama Commissioning in London, you’ll work closely with the Head of Indie Drama Commissioning. Leading the challenge of building a sustainable drama production community in Northern Ireland, you’ll be responsible for television drama output targets. All of which will make full use of your experience working with scripts at executive producer or senior development level and your ability to manage strategic development issues effectively.”
