Matt Skinner’s new feature documentary, ‘Circus Born’ will screen in the Fossett’s Big Top on Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th of December.
Skinner describes the project for IFTN as “The strangely uncelebrated story of the Irish circus tradition. The Fossett Family's Ireland's National Circus, is the oldest continuously touring circus in the world. The Fossett family is steeped in circus for generations; some of them perform with shows of world renown but are they especially lucky or particularly cursed to be Circus Born?”
The documentary is produced, directed and shot by Matt Skinner (cinematographer, Dog and Duck) for Borderline Productions. The feature’s other producers are Donald Taylor Black (Irish Cinema: Ourselves Alone?) and Tom Maguire. The piece was edited by Carl Collins (Pump Action). The feature is a Documenting the Arts Project funded by the Irish Arts Council and the Irish Film Board.
‘Circus Born’ will screen at 8.00pm on both Saturday, December 12th and Sunday, December 13th. 2009, in the Fossetts Big Top, Kilmainham Gate, IMMA, The Royal Hospital Kilmainham. There is no charge for tickets which will be available on the door for both screenings.
