Maggi Gibson, managing director of Waddell Media Ltd, won the award for her involvement in the documentary series ‘How Long Will You Live?’; Mint Production’s Mark Warren won for his involvement in the documentary ‘When the Party’s Over’. Both were joint winners of the Irish Medical Journalist of the Year with third joint winner Dr. Mark Hamilton, presenter of Waddell Media’s documentary series ‘Health of the Nation’.
Waddell Media’s Maggi Gibson and Mint Production’s Mark Warren were honoured at the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Irish Medical Media Awards which took place on Wednesday, September 30th. Each of the three will receive a cheque for €1000 and a specially commissioned sculpture from Irish artist, Ronan Halpin.
Eight category awards were also presented on the night and included the Consumer Broadcast Media: News award for RTÉ’s Richard Dowling, the Documentary Consumer Broadcast award for RTÉ’s Janet Gallagher and the Electronic Media prize for irishhealth.com’s Niall Hunter.
This was the eighth year of the awards competition, created by GlaxoSmithKline to acknowledge and encourage excellence and integrity in the ever-growing area of medical and health-related journalism.
