Writer/Director Liam O Mochain’s second feature film, ‘WC’, has won the Best Foreign Film award at the Las Vegas International Film Festival which ran from April 9 - 13th 2009. The film will be released on DVD on May 1st.
‘WC’ unfolds in and around the male and female toilets of a Dublin jazz bar, and centres on the trials and tribulations of two lowly paid toilet attendants and the people they serve.
On hearing the news O Mochain, commented: “We are delighted to have won this prestigious award at our first festival in the US, and in particular as the festival has a strong emphasis on independent cinema.”
‘WC’ had its world premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival and has also screened at the Montreal World Film Festival, Galway Film Fleadh, Cairo International Film Festival and Waterford Film Festival where it won the Best Feature Film award. It opened in various digital cinemas in March and has been selected to screen at the upcoming Arizona International Film Festival April 21-26th 2009.
The film has a cast of 80 and a crew of 60; the main cast includes director Liam O Mochain (The Book That Wrote Itself), Julia Wakeham (The Tudors series 2), Adam Goodwin (My Boy Jack), Julie Hale (Ash Wednesday), Eamonn Hunt (Running Mate), Mary Murray (Prosperity), Karl Shiels (Eden), Tim Ruddy (Ballykissangel), Sean McDonagh (Kisses), Rory Mullen (Hunger) and Daniel Wu.
