Academy Award-winning songwriting couple Alan and Marilyn Bergman (The Way We Were, Yentl, The Thomas Crown Affair) are set to perform with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and Big Band in a tour entitled ‘Swingin’ at the Movies’.
The Bergmans’ songs have won three Academy Awards, two Grammys, one Ace Award and four Emmys. The creative duo has written for many music industry legends including Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and Fred Astaire, and wrote the ‘One Voice’ concert for Streisand
Other hits in their catalogue include ‘You Don't Bring Me Flowers’, ‘Yellow Bird’, ‘Nice ‘n' Easy’, ‘How Do You Keep The Music Playing?’, ‘What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life?’, ‘Ordinary Miracles’, the score to the film ‘Yentl’ and ‘Moonlight’ from the film Sabrina.
Joining the Bergmans are two more special guests - jazz singer Jacqui Dankworth and actor/singer Fred Johanson (Jesus Christ Superstar) who will accompany the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and Big Band for orchestral arrangements of popular movie and television themes such as ‘The Incredibles’, ‘Casablanca’, ‘James Bond’, ‘Blazing Saddles’ and ‘Inspector Gadget’, plus tributes to film composers Jerry Goldsmith (Chinatown) and Elmer Bernstein (The Man with the Golden Arm).

‘Swingin at the Movies’ will take place on Wednesday October 17, 2007, at 8pm in Ireland’s National Events Centre (INEC), Killarney, and Friday October 19, 2007 at 8pm in the Helix Theatre.
