4Talent are on the hunt for new talent to create web videos and podcasts, running a series of open days across the UK for prospective filmmakers to pitch and win one of four £500 commissions each day. The Belfast Open Day takes place on Tuesday 23rd October.
To enter the competition you must submit three ideas that you think could work as a 4Talent multimedia feature, along with a current CV and links to a showreel and/or examples of your work.
Ten finalists will be chosen to come to each regional workshop, which will include a screening of some best-practice examples of 4Talent’s films, alongside an expert insight of what works for different formats, from talking-head profiles to thematic mini-docs.
Entrants will then have the chance to pitch their ideas to the rest of the group. At the end of the day, the best four will be picked by a 4Talent Commissioning Editor and pro producers to receive a £500 commission.
There are five open days in total (travel expenses not inc.)
Tuesday 16th October: Birmingham, Maverick Television
Friday 19th October: London #1, Channel 4
Tuesday 23rd October: Belfast, Black Box
Wednesday 24th October: Glasgow, Channel 4
Friday 26th October: London #2, Channel 4
Wednesday 7th November: Highlands & Islands (tbc)
4Talent suggests filmmakers should familiarise themselves with the site first – they’ve looking for anything from an inspirational profile of a creative individual to a mini-doc on an emerging trend, from a formatted audio show to a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the workings of the media.
All entries must be received by midnight on 1st October.
The 3 ideas should be 50 words each MAX, and emailed to 4talent@channel4.co.uk. Include your name, full contact details, current CV and which day you'd like to attend.
