The Attic Youth Café in Bantry, Co. Cork, has launched a Youth Film Competition on the theme ‘Your Planet-Your Future’, giving young people the chance to voice their views about the environmental issues we face.
The competition, open to young people between 14 and 19 years of age, is designed to give young filmmakers an opportunity to let the experts know their thoughts on the planet’s future.
Films can be on any topic concerning the environment, filmmakers may, for example, highlight a local or global environmental issue, suggest a technology that will help the planets impending oil crisis or simply show how he or she sees our planet’s future.
A screening of shortlisted entries will take place on the 25th August in The Attic, Bantry, Co. Cork. The screening will tie in with ‘Sustain’, West Cork Sustainability festival being held in Bantry from the 24th-26th August 2007. Confirmed judges include photographer Mark Edwards (author of ‘Hard Rain: Our Headlong Collision With Nature) and Quentin Gargan of the Green Party.
Films must be no more than 5 minutes long, and submitted in DVD format. Deadline for submissions is Wednesday 22nd August at 6pm.
