Oscar-winner Neil Jordan is set to direct an adaptation of his own novel, The Well of Saint Nobody, starring Jeremy Irons, Helena Bonham Carter, and Aidan Quinn.
Oscar winner Jeremy Irons (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Oscar nominee Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech) and Aidan Quinn (Michael Collins) are set to star in The Well of Saint Nobody, a film adaptation of the novel of the same name. The original novel was written by director Neil Jordan (Interview with a Vampire), and Jordan will direct the adaptation as well.
The Well of Saint Nobody, follows William, a famous concert pianist who retires to a rectory in West Cork. There, he hires a local woman, Tara, as a housekeeper who he has met three times yet forgotten all about her. While he remembers nothing of their previous meetings, she remembers everything. When an abandoned well is found on the property she shares legends of the well’s magical history with him.
The film will be introduced to buyers in Cannes by Bankside Films later this month. The Well of Saint Nobody is currently in pre-production, and expected to start shooting later in 2024.
“I am thrilled to be working with Bankside for the first time,” said director Neil Jordan. “I’ve never made a film of one of my novels before. This one demanded it, and I am thrilled to have Jeremy and Helena on board to explore this world of lost love and twisted legend.”
BAFTA winner Andrew Eaton will produce for Turbine Studios (The Crown) and Oscar nominee and BAFTA nominee Redmond Morris will produce for Four Provinces Films (The Dig). Bankside Films are handling worldwide sales.
