19th January 2016 Words and Pictures: A Commentary Writing Workshop - Screen Training Ireland and Galway Film Centre
Go »
In this one-day masterclass in association with the Galway Film Centre, good factual commentary writing is explored structurally: not just as a practical how-to, but also as a key component of film language, as integral to story-telling as good directing, good interviews and good music. The course is discursive and interactive bringing together history, criticism, producers’ responsibilities, influences and resources with a wealth of clips and examples. It is ideal if you find commentary writing tough and unrewarding. It also provides insights into why some commentary works while some doesn’t.
