Screen Training Ireland - Nuke Compositing Go »
Screen Training Ireland, in association with VFXAI and Animation Skillnet, and supported by Tyrell CCT and The Foundry, is seeking participants for an intermediate Nuke compositing course. This course aims to provide training for animation and VFX professionals in Nuke compositing. Participants should be skilled in After Effects, and have some basic knowledge of Nuke.
The course will cover the following:
- General and CGI compositing
- 2D Techniques
- Rotoscoping tools
- Paint tools
- Multiple keying setups
- 2D and 3D tracking
- 3D techniques

Deadline for Running the Show – Set and Crew Management for Producers and Directors (Screen Training Ireland) Go »
Based on Liz Gill’s book 'Running the Show' for First ADs, this course will enable producers and directors to work smoothly and effectively on and off set with key members of their team, including First ADs, HODs and cast. The course will offer participants the chance to enhance their practical production skills, as well as their time and people management skills, and will emphasise how an efficient pre-production period can enhance production itself. The course will be of particular interest to producers and directors who are progressing to managing bigger-budget projects with larger crews, or documentary producers and directors moving into drama.
The course will cover the following:
- Getting the most from your First AD
- Getting the most from your crew
- Pre-production
- Scheduling
- Tech recces, production meetings and tests
- Effective communication
- Running a productive and efficient shoot

The Galway Film Fair (10th-12th July) provides a unique opportunity to meet with the world's leading financiers in an intimate and informal atmosphere, allowing new talent to be discovered and long term partnerships to be made.
The Marketplace at the Galway Film Fair takes place during the Galway Film Fleadh 8th-13th July 2014 and co-ordinates pre-scheduled meetings between filmmakers with projects in development and/or completed films and invited Film Financiers, Distributors, Sales Agents, Broadcasters, Film Funds and Major Producers.
A pre-selected group of Irish, European and International producers with feature films/documentary projects will have the opportunity to meet with representatives of these companies.

This popular weekend course, guided by Award-winning director Colm Quinn (Needle Exchange) and aimed at beginners, encourages students to write and present documentary proposals, develop and research ideas, produce, direct and interview. Other subjects taught on this course are digital camera skills, sound recording and advice on funding & markets.
Two proposals are selected to be made into short documentaries over a weekend.

Screen Training Ireland - Visual Storytelling for Animation and Games (Deadline) Go »
Screen Training Ireland is delighted to welcome Bruce Block back to Ireland at the end of May and beginning of June to deliver three Visual Storytelling programmes.
Bruce has been producing and consulting on feature films since 1981. His credits include 'Something's Gotta Give', 'As Good As it Gets' and 'Stuart Little'. He is the author of 'The Visual Story' now in its second edition and available in seven languages. Used all over the world, the book explains the relationship between story structure and visual structure of film, television, video games and graphic design. His latest book, '3D Storytelling', explains how 3D works and how to use it to tell stories. Bruce conducts seminars at USC, AFI, UCLA, Pixar, ILM, Disney, DreamWorks, Blue Sky, and for computer game developers, graphic arts studios, and a variety of universities and colleges in North & South America and Europe.
Bruce will deliver a one-day seminar to a wide animation and games audience, a targeted 2-day programme to cinematographers and camera personnel (10-12 places available), and a 3-day intensive programme for directors (10-12 places available).

VFX: Script to Screen aims to inspire the creative film community in Europe to push the boundaries of VFX and develop new and innovative stories for audiences in Europe and globally.
Through case studies, lectures and course work, the programme will provide participants will a broad overview of managing projects with VFX elements at all budget levels. Participants will develop the skills and expertise to successfully plan and manage a VFX project throughout all its stages.
