Filmbase will mark the annual Culture Night event tomorrow (September 21) by throwing open its doors for a number of free screenings and ‘Get into Film’ workshops.
The Temple Bar venue will screen a number of award-winning short films, including ‘Pentecost’, ‘The Boy in the Bubble’, ‘Billy and Chuck’ and many more. The short screenings will take place at Filmbase’s gallery space, and is open to all ages.
A late night shorts screening will then be held with ‘Rhinos’, ‘The Girl with the Mechanical Maiden’, ‘Fear of Flying’ and more screening.
As well as that, Filmbase will hold its ‘Get into Film’ workshops, where Aidan Maguire (The Knife, Joyrider) will be on hand to give an introduction to filmmaking using the Canon DSLR camera. The footage shot during the session will then be edited in Filmbase’s editing workshop using editing software Final Cut Pro X.
Throughout the night you can also get your hands on a copy of ‘Film Ireland’ magazine, which is celebrating its 25th birthday this year.
All these events are free but booking is required for the workshops and late night screening.
