An upcoming Irish production is looking for a young male actor to play a 13 year old boy who will star alongside Olivia Coleman in a breakout role this summer.

The film, which is directed by Emmy-winning director Emer Reynolds (The Farthest, Songs for While I’m Away), is scheduled to shoot in Ireland from June to August.

The casting call has been issued by Elaine Grainger Casting (Inception, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, The Dark Knight) and no previous acting experience is required for the role.

Interested applications are advised to email egirishfilm@gmail.com with “your name, where you are based, a recent photo, and any acting experience or just a little about yourself.” Parents are requested to email on behalf of minors.

We recently caught up with director Emer Reynold’s who told IFTN that they are calling the film “a foul-mouthed, feel-good fairy tale,” when asked about the upcoming project.

The film, which was first announced at the American Film Market (AFM) late last year, will be produced by Aoife O’Sullivan for Subotica, and is written by Ailbhe Keoghan.

“I'm so honoured, I can't believe our fantastic fortune to have Olivia signed up to play the lead character, Joy,” Reynold told IFTN in a previous interview.

“Really, it's a kind of dark road movie comedy with huge heart,” the director continued. “It's so uplifting and feel-good, and it's really, really fun, and it's really warm and beautiful. It's set in the wilds of Kerry and Clare with a fair wind. I'm so excited to do it. I can't wait to do drama.”
