ANIMATOR - LEAD / SENIOR LEVEL

Windmill Lane VFX is looking for a skilled CG animator (senior/lead/director) level with a broad background animating different types of characters and creatures to work with their VFX team on a forthcoming film project.

You’ll be a personable, pro-active, self-starter who can motivate and lead the team around you as well as work with the project director to realise her/his vision and ensure the standard and quality of the animation is consistently high.

Prior Lead experience is a must, as is a thorough knowledge of Maya and the ability to troubleshoot technical problems. A good understanding of the animation pipeline including pre-production, production and post-production is also necessary.

 Responsibilities

• Working closely with the Director and VFX Supervisors to meet character requirements, creative aims and vision of the project
• Working closely with Rigging and Pipeline to improve character setup, visual quality, rigs and tool functionality
• Maintain effective communication with Production and Supervisor
• Working efficiently as part of a team, or independently
• You must be able to take and share direction and feedback well, demonstrate initiative, versatility and resourcefulness and have a positive attitude.
• Quality controlling animation output on assigned project
• Camera layout/blocking/previs when required
• Contributing to character design, look dev and motion testing as required

Requirements

• Previous experience (min 5+years) in a similar role in animation/VFX
• A thorough knowledge of Maya
• An understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, texture and form
• An understanding of rigs and typical rigging set-ups, animation pipelines and transferring data between tools
• The proven ability to work under pressure
• Being open to direction and able to embrace change
• Attention to detail
• Reliable, with good time keeping and the ability to meet deadlines
• A demonstrable commitment to creative collaboration within a team and with other departments
• Excellent organisation, communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work interactively with production and other departments to solve production challenges
• Modelling and Rigging skills a plus
• Knowledge of human and animal anatomy as well as life drawing skills
• Accomplished examples of keyframe animation, both character acting and full body
• Ability to feedback to rigging and pipeline and direct any technical changes

Location

We are part of a busy content creation, VFX, audio, and post-production studio working on a range of film, TV, and advertising projects in Dublin, Ireland. We are currently working remotely and ideally would prefer if you are, or could be Dublin-based in the future. We love and value a studio environment, although hybrid and remote working solutions will always be considered.
