2rn is a wholly owned subsidiary of RTÉ and distributes and transmits the programme services of RTÉ Radio and Television, TV3, TG4, UTV Ireland and Today FM. We also provide transmission services to a number of local and regional radio broadcasters as well as site services to mobile telephone and broadband operators, private communications companies and the emergency services.
2rn wish to recruit a Broadcast Engineer for its Network Monitoring Centre (NMC) in Dublin.
Reporting to the NMC Manager, the Broadcast Engineer will control and monitor the day to day operational status of the 2rn FM Radio, Digital Radio and Digital television transmission network to identify issues and perform remedial action across this network as necessary, by the use of remote control technologies and graphical user interfaces.
The main responsibilities of the post include:
- Monitoring & Control of the 2rn Distribution Network, Contribution Network, Analogue Radio Transmission Network, DTT Transmission Network, and DAB Transmission Network
- Fault diagnosis and identification
- System interrogation and fault analysis
- Primary liaison with the business customers of 2rn
- First line maintenance of the 2rn transmission network
- Dissemination of data and information within 2rn
- Communication to central and regional management regarding the nature of and duration of incidents
- Primary point of contact for the general public
- Collation of systems metrics for spot trend and availability reporting
- Maintenance and management of the 2rn website
- Primary contact liaison regarding transmission site access
- Primary point of contact for lone regional staff working
- Specification of user requirement prior to any NMC upgrades
- Various operational duties assigned as they may arise
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Third level technical qualification in electronics or telecommunications
- Previous experience working in a technical and business customer focussed environment
- Good IT skills to include competency with MS Office applications
- Excellent customer service skills and telephone manner
- The ability to work in a pressurised environment and to actively engage in problem solving and first line maintenance as required
- Candidates should be performance and goal oriented with good organisational skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
There is a requirement to work shift with this position.
The salary range is €42,753 to €49,363 gross p.a. and the post will be offered as an ongoing employment contract.
