Vicious Cicle is based on the real life story of Dublin criminal, Martin Cahill.
O'Connor's Jewellery factory heist was the beginning of the end. Brilliantly orchestrated, meticulously planned and clinically executed, the haul of over £1.5 million bore all the hallmarks of a paramilitary operation. But this one was different. Behind it was Martin Cahill, Dublin's most audacious and notorious criminal.
Up to this, the Dublin ganglord had been steadily gaining power and expanding his influence in the city's underworld. After the dramatic success of the O'Connor's job, Cahill was the godfather of crime, the self-styled "General". However, he was also a marked man, tracked by both the Irish police force, the Garda Siochana, and a local IRA unit. Heading the investigation is Declan Finney, a Garda detective and a tough maverick operator dedicated to bringing Cahill down. On the other side of the divide is the sinister figure of Charlie Rice, head of the local IRA and a man grimly intent that a common criminal pays his way.
