Principal photography is currently underway on the fourth season of ‘Love/Hate’ in Dublin, and IFTN can confirm all key cast members are returning, except for Robert Sheehan.
Filming began earlier this week in the greater Dublin area, with all crew from the previous three seasons also making a welcome return to the set.
Fresh from their IFTA Awards sweep at the beginning of February, director David Caffrey, writer Stuart Carolan, series producers Suzanne McAuley and Steve Matthews, and cast Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Killian Scott, Peter Coonan, Aoibhinn McGinnity, Charlie Murphy and Laurence Kinlan, are all currently filming scenes in various locations around the city.
Specific set locations are being kept under wraps for now, in an attempt to deter the large number of eager fans that are currently trying to get a glimpse at Nidge and co.
The fourth season, which was commissioned by RTÉ this month, will return with a six episode run. It will pick up from season three, which saw Tommy, played by Killian Scott, left unconscious after a beating from gang boss Nidge (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor); IRA member Dano, played by Jason Barry, on the lookout for his father’s killers; and Darren, played by Robert Sheehan, shot dead in cold blood.
Earlier this month, the series picked up a total of six IFTA Awards, for Best Drama, Best Script, Best Director, Best Actor for Tom Vaughan-Lawlor, Best Actress for Charlie Murphy and Best Supporting Actress for Susan Loughnane.
The series has since been optioned for a US remake, and is available to watch on US VOD service HULU.
The RTÉ commission is an Octagon Films production, with James Flynn and Stuart Carolan executive producing. Jane Gogan commissioned the series for RTÉ.
The additional returning crew members are cinematographer David Odd; costume designer Aisling Wallace Byrne; production designer Stephen Daly; production manager Anneliese O’Callaghan; sound mixer Brendan Deasy; locations manager Steven Davenport; makeup artist Denise Watson and hair stylist Sandra Kelly.
Dermot Diskin will edit the series, with Windmill Lane looking after all post.
Filming is expected to continue for a number of weeks, with a TX date scheduled for late 2013.
