IFTN in association with John Ford Ireland have a pair of season passes to give away to this year's inaugural John Ford Ireland Film Symposium.
Taking place across Dublin from 7-10 June the symposium will host a packed programme of events, screenings and discussions which will focus on the work and legacy of John Ford; one of the most influential directors in cinema history. IFTN has two weekend passes, giving you full access to many of the events of the John Ford Film Symposium, to give away to a lucky reader!
Highlights for the symposium include:
Peter Bogdanovich - Public Interview: Celebrated American director Peter Bogdanovich will discuss his filmmaking career as well as give audiences an interesting insight into John Ford based on the making of his brilliant documentary Directed by John Ford.
In Conversation With Stephen Frears: Acclaimed Director Stephen Frears will be the focus of an In Conversation With... event, discussing his varied directing career from films such as High Fidelity, The Queen, Dirty Pretty Things to his entry to the Western canon, The Hi-Lo Country, as well his important contributions to Irish cinema The Van and The Snapper.
Ford Directors Panel: Four of Ireland’s leading filmmakers: Jim Sheridan, Brian Kirk, John Boorman and Thaddeus O'Sullivan, will come together for The Directors Panel to discuss Ford and his influence on the modern day filmmaking Ford Writers Panel: Three leading screenwriters: Pat McCabe, Colin Bateman and Ian Power come together for The Writers Panel to discuss Ford.
An Outdoor Screening of The Searchers: John Ford's classic western starring John Wayne will be screened in Temple Bar's Meeting House Square.
Preview Screening of Hell On Wheels: First look at the AMC western drama series starring Colm Meaney
Unforgiven 20th Anniversary Screening: Celebrating it's 20th Anniversary; Clint Eastwood's classic western will be introduced by film critic Kim Newman
