Jessie Buckley to Star in New Film with Julie Walters
09 Jan 2018 :
Irish Actress Jessie Buckley is to star in new film 'Country Music' alongside Dame Julie Walters.

The film is being directed by Tom Harper who previously directed her in BBC mini-series 'War & Peace' and has also directed a number of episodes of 'Misfits', 'Peaky Blinders' and 'Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams'. The script is from Nicole Taylor, the writer behind mini-series 'Three Girls' as well as episodes of 'Indian Summers', 'The White Queen' and 'Ashes to Ashes'.

The Kerry actress’ star is on the up, with Buckley landing a number of roles in BBC dramas including Tom Hardy’s 'Taboo', war drama 'The Last Post' and upcoming period thriller 'The Woman in White', which was filmed in Belfast.

'Country Music', set as a comedy-drama about mothers and daughters, follows Rose–Lynn Harlan (Jessie Buckley), a talented singer, young mother who has recently been released from prison. Her mother (Julie Walters), fed up with her antics, forces her to take a cleaning job in the house of a middle-class woman, Susannah (played by Oscar Nominee Sophie Okonedo). Luckily Susannah turns out to be more than just a boss for Rose-Lynn.

The project has received funding from the BFI, Creative Scotland and Film 4 in association with Fable Pictures. The movie is being shot in Glasgow and Nashville, with filming taking place this week in the Scottish city. Entertainment One have taken worldwide rights to the project and the film is expected to release later in 2018.
