Comedy group, Crooked Gentlemen, will begin shooting their new feature film, 'The Legend of Harry and Ambrose', in September. Principle photography will commence on the anarchic period piece on September 11th this year.
Written, produced and directed by Crooked Gentlemen (Jeff Doyle, Shaun Ryan, Johnny Elliott) the film is said to be a warped examination of Anglo-Irish history. Elliott and Doyle are set to play the two central characters Harry and Ambrose respectively - two British red coat soldiers who rape, murder and pillage their way across 17th century Ireland. Visual artist Shaun Ryan (Limp) will jump into the role of Jimothy Periwinkles, an over sexed extra terrestrial, which raises questions about the films tag line, "A Meticulously accurate historical document."
The film will also star Brian Fortune (‘Game of Thrones’), Stephen Clinch (‘Love/Hate’) and Owen Colgan (‘Hardy Bucks’). It will be shot in various locations around Dublin and Wicklow.
Jeff Doyle also wrote, produced and directed black comedy ‘Jack and Ralph Plan a Murder’, which had its world premiere last May at the LA Comedy Festival.
According to Doyle, “‘The Legend of Harry and Ambrose’ will differ from ‘Jack and Ralph Plan a Murder’ in scale as this is set in the 1800s and it involves aliens! The film also will be directed and produced by the Crooked Gentlemen collective and will host some of Irelands most exciting up and coming actors.”
