Last night, November 6th, SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP concluded their most recent round of negotiations for a new three-year contract. The talks have concluded with no new deal.
In a statement to their members posted on social media, SAG-AFTRA have announced that their negotiators have formally responded to what the AMPTP described as their “Last, Best & Final” offer.
“There are several essential items on which we still do not have an agreement, including AI,” the union’s statement reads. “We will keep you informed as events unfold.”
At the time of writing this article, SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP have not reached a new deal. The SAG-AFTRA strike has now been ongoing for 117 days, the longest strike in the union’s history.
Negotiations took place virtually with AMPTP president Carol Lombardini and SAG-AFTRA chief negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland in attendance, along with Netflix‘s Ted Sarandos, NBCUniversal’s Donna Langley, Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav and Disney’s Bob Iger.
While residuals and protections against AI technology remain contentious issues, Crabtree-Ireland recently stated that he was "cautiously optimistic" after both sides compromised on minimum pay demands and a bonus structure for starring in hit shows or films.
