Cinemagic is now recruiting the next cohort of aspiring young creatives for the 2025 Cross Border Short Film Academy, supported by The Department of Education Ireland.

From July to September 2025, selected participants aged 15-18 from across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland will take part in a series of exciting film masterclasses and pre-production workshops — all leading up to the creation of a professionally-mentored short film to be shot in Armagh.

This unique programme offers hands-on experience across a range of filmmaking disciplines. Whether you’re passionate about directing, writing, camera, production design or sound, this is your chance to gain real industry insight and earn a credit on a short film that will be submitted to international film festivals.

Cinemagic is looking for committed, creative, and collaborative young people ready to learn, connect, and create. No previous experience is necessary — just enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in.

“Thanks to the continued support of The Department of Education, we are excited to deliver this impactful cross-border initiative once again,” said Cinemagic Chief Executive, Joan Burney Keatings MBE. “We welcome applications from young people of all backgrounds, who are keen to explore the world of filmmaking, work together, and learn from leading industry professionals.”

How to Apply:
