Irish writer and mountaineer Dermot Somers travels with a group of nomads on a spectacular mountain journey across Iran. Once feared throughout ancient Persia the Qashqa’i embark on a gruelling 400km migration each spring that tests the very limits of their strength, courage and endurance. Driving their herds along a mountain route they’ve followed for centuries, Dermot accompanies them for almost two months before they finally reach the melting snows of their summer pastures high in the mountains. The journey is vital for their survival and their culture.
