Ed Guiney runs film and television drama production company Element Pictures with partner Andrew Lowe. Element have offices in Dublin and London and they established the Irish film distribution company, Element Pictures Distribution.In 2007 Ed produced Garage the follow up film to the award winning Adam & Paul, from the same team of writer Mark O'Halloran and director Lenny Abrahamson, and starring Pat Shortt, which was selected for the prestigious Directorís Fortnight at Cannes Film Festival and won the CICAE Art and Essai award. The film also won the awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Script and Best Actor at the 2008 Irish Film and Television Awards.

In 2007 he also produced Death of a President for Channel 4, written and directed by Gabriel Range, which won the International Critics Fipresci Prize at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival.

In 2006 Element Pictures co-produced The Wind That Shakes the Barley, directed by Ken Loach, which won the Palme díOr at the Cannes Film Festival and has become one of the most successful independent films ever released in Ireland.

Recent Element Pictures productions include Darren Thorntonís acclaimed A Date for Mad Mary, Lenny Abrahamsonís Golden Globe and Oscar winning Room and Yorgos Lanthimosí The Lobster, winner of the Jury Prize in Cannes and recently nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and Yorgosí The Killing of a Sacred Deer starring Nicole Kidman and Colin Farrell, winner of Best Screenplay at the 70th annual Cannes Film Festival . Currently in production are Lanthimosí The Favourite, starring Emma Stone, Olivia Colman & Rachel Weisz; while currently in post-production is SebastiŠn Lelioís Disobedience, starring Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz. Element Pictures TV productions include the hit TV3 show Red Rock and the recent Charlie and Rebellion for RTE. Element Pictures Distribution also handles StudioCanalís slate and the Royal Opera House live cinema season in Ireland as well as direct acquisitions. Element Pictures operates an online video on demand platform, Volta.ie and also runs and operates the Light House Cinema, one of Dublinís premiere art house cinemas.
