This year’s festival runs from Friday, August 30th to Sunday, September 1st.
Now going into its 10th year, the Underground Cinema Film Festival presents a new programme showcasing adventurous independent filmmaking, in which boundaries are explored, pushed and often broken.
Hosted in the Royal Marine Hotel in Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, home to Ireland’s National Film School in IADT. Over the past ten years the festival has screened just over 1,000 films from 40 different countries.
Another addition to this year’s festival is the introduction of the Underground Cinema Comic Con. The con will take place on the final day of the festival, Sunday September 1st from 12pm to 6pm. Attendance at the Underground Comic Con is free, with over 20 vendors present.
Members of the 501st Ireland and Rebel Legion will be holding a Recruitment day and Fund Raiser for the Irish Cancer Society at the con as well. 501st and the Rebel Legion is an all-volunteer organization that promotes interest in Star Wars through Star Wars related events, as well as contributions to the local community through costumed charity and volunteer work. The Irish Garrison will be available to talk to anyone who is interested in joining the outfit.
