Blinder Films' 'Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami' Secures US, Europe, and Asia Distribution Deal
12 Jan 2018 : Nathan Griffin
Kino Lorber has acquired the North American rights to Blinder Films’ co-production ‘Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami’, as well as, lining up theatrical release dates for early April while VOD is due for release later this year.

The biopic, which is being handled by WestEnd Films, has already sold the documentary to Australia (Umbrella), Eastern Europe (Demiurg), Middle East (Front Row), Poland (Gravity), Scandinavia (Non Stop), China (Lemon Tree), Benelux (Arti Film), Italy (Offine Ubu), Switzerland (Praesens), and Germany (Ascot Elite).

Produced by Irish producer Katie Holly (‘Love & Friendship’) for Blinder Films along with Sligoville and Ameoba Film, ‘Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami’ had its world premiere at the renowned Toronto International Film Festival where it was the opening film of the Docs section of the festival. The film was supported by BBC Films, the BFI with National Lottery funding, the Irish Film Board and Roads Entertainment, while Sophie Fiennes, Shani Hinton and Beverly Jones also producing the documentary.

Along with the upcoming US release in April, the film is set to also release in Germany on Wednesday January 24th, Italy on January 30th, and Australia in March.

‘Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami’, directed by Sophie Fiennes, aims to step inside the mind of an icon, on a journey that encompasses both the scale and spectacle of Jones' live performances and the intimacy of personal footage which delves deep into her mind.

The film features the singer performing hits such as "Slave to the Rhythm" and "Pull up to the Bumper" and contrasts musical sequences with intimate personal footage showing both her private and public worlds.  We’re taken on a road trip across Jamaica, where her family roots and the story of her traumatic childhood are uncovered.  The film also features photographer and Jones’ frequent creative collaborator Jean-Paul Goude, as well as Jamaican duo Sly and Robbie.
