ShinAwiL Make New Hire to Management Team

Mary Callery served as Executive Producer on ‘Sing Street’
ShinAwiL is strengthening its Drama department with the addition of Mary Callery as Senior Drama Executive.

Mary has a fine pedigree in drama having previously worked as commissioning editor for Drama in RTÉ commissioning a number of award winning dramas such as The Clinic and Paths to Freedom. Her credits at Parallel Films include films for ITV, RTE, SyFy and Crown TV, while her time at The Irish Film Board, has seen her serve as executive producer on Sing Street and Jimmy’s Hall amongst others.

CEO Larry Bass says, “Adding Mary Callery to the drama team led by Aaron Farrell is allowing ShinAwiL take on bigger and more ambitious International drama projects.”

Most recently Mary Callery has spent 4 years as Project Manager at Bord Scannán na hÉireann where she served as executive producer on a range of feature films and documentaries including Sing Street (Dir. John Carney) , Song of the Sea (Director Thom Moore), Jimmy’s Hall (Dir. Ken Loach) Glassland (Dir. Gerard Barrett) and Miss Julie (Dir. Liv Ullman).

She was also Head of Development & Production/Executive Producer at Parallel Films where her credits include nine single television films for SyFy and Crown TV in the US, Ruth Rendell's 13 Steps Down for ITV, The Clinic for RTÉ and feature films including A Film with Me In It and The Food Guide to Love.

As Commissioning Editor for Drama at RTÉ she was responsible for all of RTÉ’s original drama programming both in-house and independently produced.  She commissioned a number of award winning dramas including Proof, The Clinic, No Tears, Bachelor's Walk, Stardust, Pure Mule and Paths to Freedom.

She has been a member of the Programme Bureau of the European Broadcasting Union Fiction Group; the Advisory Panel for Fás/Screen Training Ireland and a jury member for the International Emmys, The Royal Television Society and part of the programme selection committee for INPUT Television

Set up 1999 specialising in entertainment, factual entertainment, live event programming and now scripted drama, ShinAwiL is one of the largest and most successful independent production companies in Ireland. In 2009 ShinAwiL opened its first UK office and 2012 saw its first BBC NI commission, Undercover NI. The production powerhouse is behind some of Ireland’s biggest entertainment series including The Apprentice, Dragon’s Den, Masterchef Ireland, The Voice of Ireland and most recently Dancing With the Stars. 

ShinAwiL’s move into drama is well underway with the company currently executive producing The Third Wave. The feature, starring Ellen Page, is now in post slated for release late 2017. 

They are also developing The Last Barbarian, created by Frank Spotnitz, in partnership with Big Light Productions. 

Clean Sweep, being developed in partnership with Element 8 Entertainment, is one of the many exciting drama projects ShinAwiL are in the process of bringing to the market.
