The Dublin Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People is back for its 10th year, and are giving children aged 8-12 the chance to take part in a masterclass in presenting to mark the festival launch.

Hosted by presenters Ben Shires (‘Officially Amazing’, ‘Match of the Day Kickabout’) and Katie Thistleton (CBBC HQ, ‘CBBC Book Club’) they will provide a unique insight into the exciting world of television presenting.

Covering things like; how to prepare for filming, working in a live studio, interviewing techniques, how to get your own personality across on screen, and can you stop yourself laughing in front of the camera?

This fun and interactive session will provide advice and top tips, as well as showcasing the importance of life skills such as confidence, self-esteem and resilience.

An exciting surprise guest will help select two lucky participants who will get the chance to present during Cinemagic in May and report from the Festival.

The masterclass takes place in The LAB, Foley Street on Friday 21 April, from 4-6pm. Tickets are €20.00 per person. Note parent/guardian supervision is not required in the masterclass.

To book tickets for the masterclass please click here or visit the Eventbrite website and search for Cinemagic and BAFTA Kids: TV Presenting Masterclass in association with IFTA. Tickets are €20.00 per person. Note parent/guardian supervision is not required in the masterclass. Further details on booking.

The Dublin Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People takes place from 5th-14th May and includes an exciting array of new film screenings, workshops, CineSeekers and CineFocus juries and masterclasses for young people aged 4-25.

The full programme for the 2017 Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Cinemagic Festival is funded by the Department of Education and Skills and The Nido Collection.
