Carbon Literacy for Production Course for Sustainable Productions
15 May 2017 : Katie McNeice
The course is hosted by The Irish Film Board, Screen Training Ireland and Filmbase with Albert, the BAFTA-supported environmental sustainability initiative for the visual arts.

It takes place on June 1st at Filmbase and is tutored by Jeremy Mathieu, International Manager at Albert.

It is aimed at producers, line producers, production managers, location managers and any production personnel interested in enhancing their Carbon Literacy.

Interested applicants should register via the Screen Training Ireland website before Thursday May 25th.

The goal of Albert is to create ‘sustainable productions’, defined as those which have a positive impact on the people and places involved in its creation.

It strikes for a continual reduction in carbon emissions and waste production, with a goal of zero emissions and waste. It shares its values with every aspect of the supply chain, including cast, crew, outside contractors/suppliers and its audience.

The carbon literacy for production course was developed by the Film and TV industry in the UK about two years ago. It aims to provide everyone in the industry with a sound knowledge of the scientific reality of climate change, its impacts and the challenges of the transition to a sustainable future. It also covers what we can do personally in our home life, the policy and business trends that form the background to our industry, before going through the detail of what it means for content producers.

The whole afternoon is dedicated to better understanding the range of impacts of Film and TV production, and to presenting the best practice and solutions currently available.
