Cinemagic is inviting Northern Ireland schools to participate in ‘The Film Report’, a new video series for Cinemagic TV.

The project will enlist two primary schools and two post-primary schools to learn about critiquing films and develop presenting skills for one of the most exciting jobs in the industry- film reviewing!

Participating schools will receive online training in film criticism, presenting and creating video content. The schools will be in with a chance of being selected to have their review premiered on Cinemagic’s YouTube channel, Cinemagic TV, which is packed with episodes on new film releases, filmmaking, career crafts, and young filmmaking talent.

“With support from the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland, we are thrilled to be able to offer a brand-new opportunity to young people in Northern Ireland, to develop communication skills, literacy skills, and digital skills, using film as the vehicle,” said Laura McCurdy, Cinemagic Project Executive. “Our young audiences are passionate about film and what better way to inspire them than to nurture their talent and create a new outlet for their ideas and creativity through The Film Report project.”

Community Foundation’s Grants Director, Orla Black said; "We are so privileged to support organisations such as Cinemagic providing new and exciting opportunities to inspire young people. A creative project encouraging new ways of learning and collaboration within communities, both in-person and online. Since March the Foundation has been able to support over 1,000 organisations through COVID funding ensuring organisation such as Cinemagic can adapt and continue to support those in our community."

To apply for this project which will run until the end of March 2021, please email laura@cinemagic.org.uk by February 1st, 2021. This project has been supported by the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland through the Department for Communities, and Rural Community Network.
