Update on Screen Skills Ireland Funding Schemes to aid COVID-19 disruptions
20 Apr 2020 : News Desk
Screen Skills Ireland
As part of the overall measures announced by Screen Ireland to support the creative screen industry as it continues to experience unprecedented levels of disruption as a result of COVID-19, Screen Skills Ireland, the skills development unit within Screen Ireland, are repurposing two funding schemes and will be introducing two new funding schemes.

These four schemes are the Skills Development Events Funding Scheme; the Bursary Award Funding Scheme; the Screen Stakeholders Funding Scheme; and the Mentoring Funding Scheme.

Screen Skills Ireland has adapted and repurposed the Festivals and Events Funding Scheme in order to offer a new Skills Development Events Funding Scheme, which will assist Irish organisations such as film festivals and other stakeholders to provide online industry events including masterclasses, workshops, panel discussions, and seminars.

The International Bursary Awards Funding Scheme has also been adapted and is now known as the Bursary Awards Funding Scheme. The purpose of this scheme is to assist Irish industry professionals from the screen sector to enhance their careers during the current crisis through online opportunities for skills development.

In addition to these two repurposed schemes, Screen Skills Ireland will be introducing two new funding initiatives. The first is the Screen Stakeholders Funding Scheme, which will open shortly, and will enable organisations to apply for funding to deliver a series of online events and other activities across a 12-month period.

Screen Skills Ireland will also soon introduce a structured Mentoring Funding Scheme, providing screen professionals with remote/online mentoring support at key stages in their career development that will encompass business, creative and/or technical mentoring. A mentor panel is currently being assembled, with a call for mentee applications to be launched soon.
