Windmill Lane's Tim Morris appointed new Chairman of VFXAI
03 Mar 2020 : Nathan Griffin
Tim Morris, new Chairman of VFX Association of Ireland
Morris of Windmill Lane Pictures will take over the role from Jim Duggan who steps down after two successful years in the role.

The VFX Association of Ireland (VFXAI) was established to promote Ireland nationally and internationally as a VFX centre of excellence and a destination with talent and scale.

“Over the last couple of years the association has worked hard to facilitate that export drive,” said outgoing Chairman Jim Duggan. “We have successfully interfaced with Screen Ireland, Screen Skills Ireland, Enterprise Ireland and with Revenue to ensure the very specific needs of the Irish VFX industry have been front and centre.”

Speaking about his new appointment, incoming Chairman Tim Morris said; "I am looking forward to carrying on the excellent work of Jim Duggan and to showcasing the VFX industry infrastructure and talent available in Ireland.  The VFXAI has been very successful in promoting the industry both domestically and internationally as it combines the strengths of our individual member companies to highlight the substantial offering of talent, scale, and incentives available in Ireland for the production of exceptional VFX."

This comes off the back of another highly successful year for Ireland’s VFX industry, which saw the Screen Scene VFX team; helmed by Visual Effects Supervisor Ed Bruce, involved in two Oscar-nominated projects: Captain Marvel; and The Irishman.

Jim Duggan stepped down from the role at the end of February 2020 with Tim Morris taking over from 1st March 2020.  The Chairman role will now rotate on a six-monthly basis between member companies.
