Three Irish Pick Up Awards at the 2018 BAFTA TV Ceremony

The BAFTA Television Awards took place in London last night, Sunday, May 13th. With six Irish nominated at this yearís ceremony, three received awards at this yearís ceremony.

Brian F. O’Byrne picked up ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for his performance in ITV’s ‘Little Boy Blue’, beating Northern Irish ‘Line of Duty’ star Adrian Dunbar who was also nominated in that category.

Cork Native Graham Norton picked up ‘Best Entertainment Programme’ for his popular talk show on BBC, ahead of Adam Hills’ ‘The last Leg’, Michael McIntyre’s ‘Michael McIntyre’s Big Show’, and Sandi Toksvig’s ‘QI’.

Sharon Horgan received a BAFTA for ‘Best Short-form Programme’ for her work on Sky Arts’ ‘Morgana Robinson’s Summer’. Horgan picked up two other BAFTA nominations for performance and writing on Sky’s hit comedy show ‘Catastrophe’, missing out to Molly Windsor of BBC One’s ‘Three Girls’ & BBC Three’s ‘This Country’.

Irish actress Sinead Keenan was also nominated in the ‘Best Leading Actress’ category for her performance in ITV’s ‘Little Boy Blue’, alongside Horgan and Thandie Newton of ‘Line of Duty’, only to miss out to Molly Windsor of BBC One’s ‘Three Girls’.

BBC’s ‘Line of Duty’ missed out on an award in the ‘Best Drama’ category with Cillian Murphy’s ‘Peaky Blinders’ coming out on top of Netflix’s ‘The Crown’ and Channel 4’s ‘End of the Fucking World’.

The 2018 BAFTA Television Awards took place in the Royal Festival Hall, London on Sunday, May 13th.
