'Nat West Six Nations' & 'Ireland’s Got Talent' Ratings Mark Successful First Weekend For TV3
05 Feb 2018 : Nathan Griffin
What was billed by TV3 as ‘Super Saturday’ at their Spring launch back in January has held significant weight as Ireland’s momentous win against France proved a catalyst for a hugely successful afternoon in terms of ratings for TV3.

Over one million viewers tuned into the stations coverage of the opening NatWest 6 Nations match between Ireland & France, with an average viewership of 572,000. A peak audience of 789,000 came as audience tuned-in in the run-up to Johnny Sexton’s iconic drop goal.

Coverage of the rugby was followed by a hugely successful debut for ‘Ireland’s Got Talent’, which garnered an average audience of 469,000 viewers. The show reached 866,000 viewers across the 90 minute broadcast.

Following the main show, an average of 236,000 viewers continued watching Glenda Gilson and James Kavanagh go behind-the-scenes on ‘Ireland’s Got Mór Talent’.

TV3’s all day share of viewing on Saturday, February 3rd was 24.5%, making it the number one channel in the country on Saturday.

Bill Malone, Director of Programming said:

“It is great to get the NatWest 6 Nations and Ireland’s Got Talent off to such a strong start. With Johnny Sexton’s stunning drop goal in Paris and 81-year-old Evelyn Williams’ golden buzzer on Ireland’s Got Talent, TV3 had two classic TV moments in one evening. And it is heartening to get such a positive reaction to Super Saturday.”

The Natwest 6 Nations continues this Saturday 10th February on TV3 with Ireland v Italy and England v Wales, coverage starts at 1pm.

Episode 2 of ‘Ireland’s Got Talent’ airs on TV3 this Saturday 10th February at 7.30pm, followed by Ireland’s Got Mór Talent at 8.30pm.
