The eight part series will be an adaptation of Irish novelist Tana French’s crime novel series.
The first season will be based on French’s first two novels in her crime series, In the Woods and The Likeness, and will be adapted by Sarah Phelps. The show which is set to air on BBC One is being produced by Eustom Films, Veritas Entertainment Group and Element Pictures (Room).
Sarah Phelps on ‘The Dublin Murders’:
"Tana’s compelling novels are both nail-biting thrillers, enquiries into the nature of evil and heartbreaking stories of human frailty, love and loss; I couldn’t be more excited to be bringing The Dublin Murders to audiences."
Each of French’s Dublin Murder Squad series focuses on a different detective from the same team. The success of the series speaks for itself with over a million copies of In the Woods already sold.
Piers Wenger, controller of BBC drama:
"Sarah has brought Tana’s haunting stories to life with depth, flair and a deft touch of the modern gothic, more psychological thriller than police procedural, expect them to become a huge talking point on BBC One.”
‘The Dublin Murders’ will be Exec produced by Ed Guiney (Element Pictures), Elizabeth Kilgarriff (BBC), Kate Harwood & Sarah Phelps (Euston Films), and Alan Gasmer & Peter Jaysen (Versitas Entertainment Group).
Filming of the series is set to start shooting in Belfast and Dublin in 2018.
FremantleMedia International will handle international distribution.
