The 2015 post-apocalyptic thriller was a career-changing project for the writer/director, who won the IFTA Rising Star Award in April 2016, following screenings at Galway Film Fleadh and Tribeca Film Festival among others.
Martin McCann leads the cast as the survivalist, who remains hidden and alone in a small plot of land in a forest until two women approach him seeking food and shelter. He then finds his existence threatened in a time of starvation and dependency on instinct.
Mia Goth (High Life) and Olwen Fouéré (The Drummer and the Keeper) pictured above, also star.
North American rights to ‘The Survivalist’ were originally acquired by Alchemy, which subsequently went out of business. The new deal with IFC Midnight now brings the title to theatres and on demand from Friday May 19th.
The Fyzz Facility and Film One project was produced by David Gilbery, Wayne Marc Godfrey and Robert Jones.
