The Irish-language version of the animated series Adventure Time starts Tuesday, 17th September on Cúla 4 / TG4, with new episodes every Tuesday at 5.20pm.
The futuristic fantasy cartoon series - following Finn the Human and his best friend, Jake the Dog, on their adventures around the magical land of Ooo - first broadcast on Cartoon Network in 2010, and ran for eight years until 2018.
Now Dublin-based production company Macalla Teo has brought the Irish-language version of the series to life for TG4.
Among the Irish language cast are Fionn Foley (Finn); Niall McDonagh (Jake); Hilary Bowen-Walsh (Princess Bubblegum / an Banphrionsa Guma); Marcus Lamb (Ice King / an t-Oighear Rí); Alice Ní Chátháin (Marceline the Vampire Queen / Banríon na Vampírí); and Dean Reidy (Lumpy Space Princess / an Banphrionsa Cnapach).
Producer of the Irish language version, Ciara Pollock, says:
“We’ve had so much fun working on creating the Irish language version of this iconic series all summer, and with such a brilliant cast. We’re so excited for it to air next week on TG4, and we hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as we’ve enjoyed working on it!”
Macalla have many years’ experience with dubbing Irish-language programming, having worked on series such as Spongebob Squarepants, The Muppets, Power Rangers and Ben Ten for TG4, as well as films such as The Breadwinner (An Saothraí) and Song of the Sea (Amhrán na Mara) for Cartoon Saloon.
