Ireland-based production company, Brick Lane Pictures has announced that multi-talented hyphenate, Andy Fickman (Playing With Fire) will write and direct their forthcoming feature, My Dad’s A Famous Movie Star.

Fickman, will co-write the project with his wife Kristen Gura Fickman, will produce through his Oops Doughnuts Productions banner.

Alongside Brick Lane Pictures’ Brandon Evans, the film will also be produced by Todd Slater on behalf of his newly launched content and media company, Convoke (King of Killers, Sacrifice Game), Steve Waterman (Alvin & The Chipmunks), Jeff Kranzdorf (The Good Neighbor), and Betsy Sullenger (One True Loves).

Fickman’s previous feature directorial credits include Playing with Fire, Parental

Guidance, The Game Plan, and Race to Witch Mountain. He has also directed and

executive produced several television series, including the Disney series, Austin & Ally, Kevin Can Wait, and Neflix’s The Crew. Fickman is also engaged in Heathers: The Musical, based on the 1988 cult hit, that starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. The show is currently running in London. His latest feature, One True Loves which he directed and produced, will be released this year.

The details of the story are being kept under wraps at present, but the project is a fish out of water journey and said to be in the vein of Billy Elliot, Waking Ned Devine, and About A Boy. The film is set to shoot this autumn in County Waterford and other locations across Ireland.

“When I first got involved with the script for My Dad's A Famous Movie Star, my mind was bursting with images of one of the most magical places on Earth - Ireland - a place that also holds a deep, personal connection for my family and me - a place I've dreamed of filming,” said director Andy Fickman.

“As a director, this film not only offers everything I search for creatively, but also embodies the full spectrum of human emotions - heart, laughter, sorrow, and the hope for a better tomorrow - all of which the audience will experience vividly from our wide range of fresh, unforgettable characters,” Fickman added. “I simply can't wait for the world to discover our story.”

Producer Todd Slater added: “Andy’s previous work speaks for itself. Once we read his and Kristen’s script, we knew that this was a special project with massive global appeal.”

Producer Brandon Evans said: “Andy is one of the most prolific directors of family films and a master of telling stories that emotionally move an audience. He is the perfect partner for this incredible and heartfelt story.”

Casting for the film is currently underway with Elaine Grainger (The Dark Knight, Inception, The Hitman’s Bodyguard).
